Join the conversation on shifting rural electric co-ops away from stranded fossil fuel assets to local clean energy:
Register now for the June 24th @1pm EDT webinar on Rural Electrification 2.0
Rural Electric Cooperatives are facing serious challenges on the path to clean energy. Co-ops are reliant on uneconomic coal plants which some utilities have classified as stranded assets. Saddled with debt on their coal plants many co-ops have limited financial options to retire them and deploy renewable resources.
As rural communities struggle to thrive in a difficult economy the fossil fuel dependent rural utilities that serve them are holding them back from prosperity and a clean energy economy.
Rural Electrification 2.0, a report coauthored by CURE, We Own It, and the Center for Rural Affairs examines possible routes to reduce electric cooperative fossil fuel debt and increase investments in renewable energy (and efficiency, demand management and storage). The authors hope to start a conversation about best options and how to develop potential solutions and make progress for rural communities.
The authors of the report will be hosting a webinar Monday June 24th at 1pm ET/noon CT/11am MT/10am PT to give a brief overview of the report and answer questions from attendees. You can register to attend this webinar at the link below:
